| Let's have some fun! |

Damn all these media guys with a keyboard and a website. All they do is complain and trash my favorite guy and they never give Nascar a break and they trash the TV coverage and blah blah blah...... What are these people thinking when they write these articles? Oh, wait, I am one of those "media guys" and I do complain alot. But, boy is it fun!! Speaking of fun, let's have some. I have no idea what I am about to write, but I have decided to just throw out some random stuff, to not pick on any one team, driver, or corporation and to just have a little fun. You may want to click "Back" now and save yourself the agony.
As some of you may know, I write not only for this site but also for SpeedwayMedia.com which is a link partner to this site. Each week I try to write thought provoking articles with a little humor and I have to try to keep my 2 articles different. This is not an easy task, but I enjoy the challenge. In between this, I race online using Nascar3. I have yet to justify the $500 upgrade to my computer to run Nascar4. I am actually starting a league for Nascar3 running on Sunday mornings, with each race running around 1.5 hours long. If interested, go to my website TZR15 Racing and sign-up. Once we get 15 or more drivers, we will get started. Enough about that. I wrote an article before called "If Tony Soprano ran Nascar". It's in the archive section of my Website listed above. In that article, I likened Nascar to things like WWF, Survivor, The Soprano's and even gave some new sponsor suggestions. I read an article by Kristi Brandenburg on this site called "If NASCAR Drivers had theme songs -80’s style " and it was great. After watching 90 commercials during Sunday's race, Yes 90. Check my article at SpeedwayMedia.com., I figured, if I have to watch commercials, let's make them more fun. Let me write them!! (That "back" button is still there!!) First off, let's acknowledge the good one's. Even though the car is ugly as sin, the UPS "We want to race the truck" commercials are great. The NBC Winter Olympics one with Tony Stewart on the Ski Slope is great too. But, we could add a few more: I'll skip the obvious Mark Martin commercials and we'll start with what I think would be a great marketing idea. Federal Express NEEDS to sponsor a truck in the Craftsman Truck Series. Their commercials could be a direct dig at UPS and state "We aren't afraid to drive the truck!". Budweiser has had some of the best commercials ever, with the frogs, Louie and Frankie, the ferret and others. Why not have Little E having a party at his house a.k.a. "Club E" and Frankie and Louie are hanging out on the porch, the frogs pull up on Harley's as the music plays "Low Rider" and the frogs chant "low" "ride" "err". Dale Jr is playing the drums and the ferret is singing (or trying to) and the announcer says "Budweiser", "when you're having a few friends over". Or, why not have Jimmy Spencer doing his Christmas shopping at K-mart and forgetting everything he was supposed to pick up. And you see Jimmy standing in the middle of the store dumbfounded and Todd Bodine wheels by with a full cart and says "Jimmy Spencer never forgets? yeah right!" Ok, maybe I shouldn't write them, but the potential is there. It would make it a bit more interesting since we spend 42% of the time in commercials. |
