I'm giving you the heads up... this is my OPINION ONLY.. and you have the right to disagree.. I'm also NOT bashing drivers, just making an obvious observation.
Its amazing to me the attitudes of the " rookies" this season.. I just read on Nascar.com.that JD Gibbs has replaced all but 2 of Denny Hamlin's crew..... WHY you ask.????? because Denny was so upset over losing the race on Sunday, ( and other races as well).....
While this may be true, you don't go on National TV and the Media and chew your crew out.... then go crying to your owner that you want your crew fired.!!!!!.. well in my opinion he just shot himself in the foot.... it takes a long time for a crew to "gel" and he's going to pay the price for opening his mouth..
while I'm on my soap box.. I will also mention Juan Montoya and his attitude.. Hello Juan this is NOT Formula 1.... I could not believe the exchange between he and his crew chief in the Busch race on Friday night..... HE certainley isn't making any friends on the track thats for sure...
My Point to all of the above is this...
The sport has changes so much in the last couple of years..... Nascar is all about Money, and they get these young kids and pay them all this money, and right away they have an Attitude... its costing more and more to sponsor a team these days... and granted a lot of these kids can drive but like a lot of young people these days. they want it ALL and they want it NOW..
Nascar has to take some of the blame for this.... its all about WINNING these days and while the Vets are wanting to win, they know they have been in it for a long time and understand the ups and downs of the sport.
NOW FOR JEFF.
Jeff is a Champion for a good reason.... if you watched the windtunnel show on Wed night, you heard DW say that Jeff was the most humble driver he knew.... this is WHY Jeff is successful..... not only is he an excellent driver but he has the "people skills" it takes to be a Champion..
We as Jeff's fans know he gets upset and we can see it in his face, but if there is a problem with his team, he FIXES it behind closed doors, not in the public eye... Watching Jeff makes you WANT to be Nascar fan, he's everything a fan wants in "their" driver.
The competition is the best its ever been, and this is frustrating to those who can't figure out the COT... WELL. HMS did their homework, and they are on top of their game.... while the others are complaining, blaming their crews etc etc.. Jeff and his team are quietly going after their 5th Championship..
As DW says. Jeff has and will continue to change the record books.. and he does it with class and humility.. this is why he will always be a Champion no matter how many he wins....
While Drivers of other teams are switching a lot of things about their team, the Vets are quietly going about their jobs.. a lot of them don't like the COT, but they know that they have to deal with it because its here to stay...
Competitors like Jeff only come along once in a life time.....the Rookies and one of his own team mates could learn a lot from him...... and if they choose not to then its their loss.... but sooner rather than later, the competition will recognize Jeff for who he is and what he's about... and say to themselves... hmmmmmm... so thats how you become a Champ.
