Today (well, it wont be today by the time you read this) was the first day of testing at Daytona. Testing went by Team Owner points, odd numbers going first. I'm sure that most all of you have seen the rankings for day one, so I wont go into that, but I do feel somewhat compelled to voice a few thoughts about some of our first day drivers. I stress that these are my thoughts, ok, don't go suing my editor, please??
First off, I noticed that 6 of the top 10 qualifier's were all CHEVY'S. OF COURSE. The bottom 6 cars were all FORDS. OF COURSE.
And a question, do the driver's know what they're testing against? My idea-did Jeff Gordon know that Robby Gordon was up ahead of him? If he did, don't you think Jeff may have tried a little harder to prove the guy wrong?? Just a thought...
And now onto my real point...
#1- CHEVY-49.15 seconds (I'm rounding)-ROOKIE Jimmie Johnson (#48): not bad my rookie friend, way to show the old timers a thing or two!
#4-CHEVY-49.25 seconds-Robbie Gordon(#31): Why and how? How? Guy is driving for RCR now, he should be thanking his stars he's got power like that behind him. Now lets see if he can actually qualify.
#6-CHEVY-49.27 seconds-Jeff Gordon (#24): Jeff, did you bump Robbie again?? I mean, it didn't matter at Loudon, you already had the championship, but testing at Daytona? I still have faith in you Jeff.
#7- CHEVY-49.28 seconds-Dale Earnhardt Jr. (#8): Good job, top 10, you've got a few more weeks to get those extra milli-seconds, you WILL take the poll!! (yooouuucannnndooooeeettt)
#16-Ford-49.90 seconds-Ricky Craven (#32): Well, ya finished my friend!
#19-Ford-50.03 seconds-Dale Jarrett (#88): Dale, you should have driven the Big Brown Truck.
#21-Ford-50.09 seconds-Mark Martin (#6): Take two Viagra and call me in the morning.
We'll have to wait and see what happens once Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick take the stand, the second half will definitely have a thing or two to say to the first round of qualifiers. That's it for me..
