The return to Daytona is fast approaching, speedweeks will be here before we know it. What should we expect?

-EMOTION TO BE HIGH: As you all know, this will be our first Daytona 500 without Dale, so fans and drivers will be reminded of and will be remembering Dale. Daytona International Speedway will unveil a bronze statue of Dales likeness outside of Turn 4, adjacent to the entrance of Daytona USA..sure to become a tourist atraction and a must see for all race fans.

-THE JUNIOR FACTOR: This poor young man has been through so much this past year. Enduring not only the death of his father, but dealing with it week after week as tracks and fans remembering his father. Then later on in the season, having his teamate seriously injured in the Busch Series Race in Darlington Last September. Maybe after this Daytona 500, the media will let up on thier constant pursuit of Dale Jr, and let the memory of his father rest. The constant reminders of his father has got to weigh on him, he dealt with the loss of his father when he returned to the track last July, why can't we move on as well. But in moving on, lets never forget all that Dale has done, and means to the sport.

-THE FORD CAMP: Daytona testing sure was interesting for the Ford Team. After whining, whining, and more whining, Ford Teams got a break from Nascar, a 1/4 inch off the rear spoiler. The Ford teams said it was not nearly enough, but can you blame nascar for being cautious. Come to find out that the help they were given only caused more probelms. Do I think that the Ford teams are at a disadvantage-YOU BETCHA. Do I think that the Fords were sandbagging-ABSOLUTELY. I'm sure glad that I don't have to make the decisions on rule changes/aero rules. You can never make everyone happy.

-FAREWELL TO DAVE MARCIS: Marcis became a member of the Nascar Family in 1968, making his debut at the Daytona 500, and he will end his career there as well taking his final bow at this years Daytona 500. If Dave Macis makes the field for this years race, he will pull ahead of Richard Petty for the most Daytona 500 starts. Lets all hope Marcis makes the race so he can end his career in style...in the mother of all races..the Daytona 500...And don't forget to look for the Wing Tips!!! FAREWELL AND HAVE A GREAT RETIREMENT.

-SO ALL: Lets all hope that this years race is competitive and safe. Its Almost here everyone.......DAYTONA HERE WE COME!!!
