Response, even though these idiots don't deserve it.

Wow, what a Busch Race! Without waiting for tomorrows show I"m responding to
the brain dead know- nothings already spouting the conspiracy and fix
bulls--- like they have a clue about racing. First , I checked the Weekly
World News to see if they started a Nascar column to go with the stories
about Clintons three breasted interns and Hillary's alien lovers. Finding
nothing there, I decided the next best pipeline of unsubstantiated bull is
the readily available and totally anonymous forum of the internet chat room.
Bingo!! I can't claim this quote but it's one of my favorites:
The two easiest ways to slide through life are believing everything you
hear and doubting everything you hear. What they have in common is that they
both preclude the need to think.
Now to the point. If we look at this as a criminal investigation, which
it would surely be to those of us who take racing seriously, we can break it
down as such.
First, Motive: If Nascar were to try to preordain the winner of a race, what
would be gained by it? Sure, a win by Junior or Mikey or even Kevin would be
popular with the fans, but they are already fans and having Sterling or Rusty
win would be celebrated just as long and loud. Do they risk the entire
future fan base of the sport to look good for one race? They know as well as
we do that to be exposed in such a scandal would do irrepairable harm to the
sport.
Second, Opportunity; A "FIX" in this case, would entail the cooperation of
not only 43 drivers, but an untold number of crew chiefs, pit crew members,
and officials at all levels. To even consider this as being something that
could be not only pulled off, but ultimately go undiscovered, would be
ludicrously optimistic.
Third, The Perpetrator; Who's going to do this? Without going into my
personal opinion of Mike Helton and the France family, I am pretty sure they
aren't crazy enough to be involved in something this self destructive. So
who's going to go into Junior's camp and say" OK we decided you are going to
win. Your dad would be real proud to see you win like this" Then they have to
go to Rusty and say" Gee Rusty, maybe next year we'll let you win but this
year we think Junior should win so hold off or whatever." Then this guy has
to go to 41 other teams with the same story and have complete confidence that
not only will everyone agree, but that noone will leak a word of this to the
press or anyone else.
What's to gain? A short period of fuzzy warm feelings after the crowd
favorite wins the big race and puts yet another storybook ending to this
melodrama.
What's to lose? The respect and support of millions of fans world wide that
still believe Nascar Winston Cup Racing is the greatest sport in the world.
Believe what you want, but don't try to insult my intelligence by expecting
me to believe in Bill Clintons three boobed interns, Hillary's alien lovers,
or Nascar race fixing!
Happy Racing Danny Zeeff
