Hotlanta!
Here it goes, in no particular order, actually, we'll let Lisa go first since she got it right last week. Thanks for making us look good Lisa! We are on the scoreboard!!
Lisa:
In response to my "Crystal Ball" article", I received a great combination
method from Jim Watt of Charlotte, NC. The only problem was I wasn't
sure I completely understood it, so I asked Jim to help me out this
week. First we had to look at the date of the race, March 10. This
is an even number so we had to pick an odd numbered car. Then we
had to look at Sunday's weather forecast in Atlanta, and it's supposed
to be overcast. Based on that, we had to pick a car that has a color
scheme that reflects an overcast mood, kinda dullish you know.
Based on all that, Jim and I are picking Jerry Nadeau in the 25 car,
Jeff Burton in the 99 car, and Kevin Harvick in the 29 car. Jim
picked the cars, and I picked the order. Jeff Burton blew 2 engines
during his Atlanta practice session, and Kevin is the defending champion
of this race so I don't think they are going to win. That leaves
Jerry Nadeau as the winner, and I sure hope he can keep my winning
streak up.
Thanks Jim, for a great picking method, and for joining me this week.
Keep sending in those crazy methods. Even though I actually have
a number by my name now, I still need all the help I can get. Thanks
everyone.
Danny Z:
I keep coming close but this week I think I've got it. This should
be the best race of the short season, and with Nascar not screwing
anything up, Tony Stewrat is going to have to give this one up to
his teammate. This track could also be good to Johnny B so my trifecta
is: Bobby La Bonte, Johnny Benson, and Tony Stewrat.

Heather:
My crystal ball was pretty reliable last week when I gazed into it for my Las Vegas predictions and it showed me that Sterling Marlin was a likely candidate to end up in the Winner's Circle, so I'll rely on it again this week.
My pick for Atlanta: Kevin Harvick. He's struggled over the last few races, but I think he's due. He is the defending champion of this race, and I think that he will repeat. So I predict that Chevrolet will get its first win of the 2002 season, and that Chevy will be driven by Kevin Harvick.
Don:
Who to pick to win Atlanta? Beats the heck out of me. This is a
really wierd season and Sterling Marlin has been strong in the first
three races. Ryan Newman seems to do good on 1 1/2 mile tracks.
Jeff Gordon woould have been a logical choice but the Chevys aren't
looking too good excepting Jimmie Johnson. A lot will depend on
whether NA$CAR gives the Chevies a nose job before HoLanta.
Having said that, I'll say this. It looks like it's Sterling's race
to lose. Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte can't be counted out.
Ryan Newman or Jimmie Johnson could pick up their first win. To
be totally honest, I have absolutely no idea who the winner will
be.
Charlotte:
Charlotte has sent in her pick as follows:
Dale Jr.
Bethann:
Who should I pick? Enemeneminemo...I'm having a hard time picking
my winner this week for some reason. Atlanta is the fastest
non-restrictor plate track we visit during the year, and there is
really no clear cut favorite. So I wrote down names,
past pole sitters/winners and drew a name. And the Winner is: Dale
Jarrett
Jarrett was on the pole in 2000 & 2001 and was a race winner in 1997.
It could be worse I could have picked Jeff Gordon from my hat
of names...eww (sorry Gordon fans). Other possible winners could
be Bobby Labonte whom has always run well at Atlanta or
Dale Jr. (come on he has to get out of this slump sometime). So
there you have it everyone. Lets just hope for a safe and
competitive race for all the drivers/fans. Those are my picks and
I'm stickin' to em'.
QUESTION TO READERS: How do you pick the winners?
Bethann (BethLovesNascar)
Arnie:
Hotlanta Picks...
Jimmy Spencer will win. He is still fired up from missing Daytona.
Mark Martin second, Busch 3rd, Mike Waltrip and Marlin will round out the top 5.
Arnie
Rob:
Atlanta is a tough call, but I am going with Ryan Newman. The kid is showing us that he is for real and he has proven he can get around Atlanta and similar tracks like Charlotte.
2nd and 3rd get a little tough. Harvick and Gordon and Bobby Labonte have all done well there and Bobby is "Mr. Atlanta", so I'll take him for #2
Rounding out my top 3 would have to be Marlin. He has come out of nowhere last season and backed it up this season. He is to be taken serious.
LAST WEEK"S WINNER- Larry Haseley!!:
Thanks for the opportunity to match wits with the Experts this week. This will be tough for me, as I will have to go with my head, and not my heart.
My pick to win this week is Tony Stewart, but I think he will be fighting Atlanta Ace, Bobby Labonte for this one. If neither of them do it, this is the week for another first time winner -- and if so, it will be either Ryan Newman or Johnny Benson. I will throw out a couple more names to be in the Top 10 -- Marlin, Jarrett, Junior, and Jeff Gordon.
Thanks again for the opportunity.
Larry Haseley, Lockport, NY
Summary:
Congrats to Lisa for scoring one for the home team with last week's Vegas pick!! This week seems to favor the guys with past experience and success here, but Newman, Johnson and Benson are picked as potential first time winners.
