Monster Mile!
Here it goes, in no particular order...
Alison:
Jeff Gordon is hungry for a comeback. And I think this is the time for him.
He will be followed by Sterling Marlin and Mikey Waltrip.
Not to gloat about my win last week, but GO ME!! I officially crown myself the new NASCAR genius! Sorry Rob.
Danny Z:
Finally a week not dominated by the young guns. [ Thanks to JJ's screwups.] I
predict the trend will continue this week at Dover. The young guys will make
their presence known, but in the end experience will win out again.
My
trifecta for Dover:
1: Rusty Wallace, the skill, the experience, and the desire come together for
a much needed win.
2: Tony Stewrat, a team this good shouldn't even be happy
with a second, but they'll take it!
3: Sterling Marlin, just keepin on
pluggin away and coming out with a bunch of points.
Course, my man Mark has
that sweet taste of victory fresh in his mind so don't count him out!
Happy
Racin, Danny Z
Arnie:
Mark Martin will win again and his teammate Matt Kennseth and Kurt Busch will be close behind.
Mark liked winning again and would really like to go for the championship although no one has picked him but me.
Heather:
Well, riding the Jeff Gordon train worked out pretty well for me last week (he got a top 5 finish), so I'm going to stay on board. My pick this week is Jeff Gordon again. I'm am going to stick with him until he wins a race! He's just got to win sooner than later!
Lisa:
I was soooooo close last week, but I was happy to see Mark with the
win. Big Congratulations to him. I am having a big week with lots
of in-law visits, and I'm doing my share to support Budweiser this
week, so I'm going to go with Dale Jr this week.
Don:
I am sticking with Tony Stewart to win. He's been too close to not pull one out. My top five:
1. Tony Stewart
2. Jeff Gordon
3. Ricky Rudd
4. Jeff Burton
5. Dale, Jr.
Don
Charlotte:
Charlotte shall speak now....
Well, I don't want to diss JR because I love him to death, but I'm
really going for Robby Gordon...
Just kidding guys...hmmmmm hows about Jeff Gordon? or Tony S. Or
Junior. Never, ever, doubt Lil' E.
SideWays:
Well me and the boys at the shop hit a dry spell. We've tried several things to get on track. None of which seem to be working. Since "Rollback" won't bring his new crystal ball around, we are left on our own.
Seems those Fords have the Mile or better tracks figured out. It would be silly to go against them, huh? That's why we're picking ..ta-da...Kevin Harvick in a stunning season turn-around! Hey if it was easy anyone could do it....come to think of it...uh actually it takes no talent whatsoever, something my wife is quick to point out!
Kevin:
1. - Tony Stewart in the #20 wood shop car
2. - Dale Earnhardt, Jr in the #8 red beer can
3. - Matt Kenseth in the #17 tool box
4. - Kurt Busch in the #97 food container with "leftovers" written
in black ink on top of it
Bethann:
Here is my prediction....Dale Earnhardt Jr. Why? Just cause I feel
like picking him this week. I also think that Jeff Gordon, Matt
Kenseth, and Tony Stewart will be ones to watch this weekend.
Rob:
When I move to Charlotte this weekend, the first thing I am going to do is find Ryan Newman's engine builder and tell him that he owes me my dignity back.
Between my fantasy leagues and this prediction contest, Newman's engine failures have killed me. I am never picking Newman again. goodbye Newman.
With that said, we need a pick for Dover. Too easy. Mark Martin.
Let's just hope his Viagra crew can keep him up (his roof that is) this week!!
LAST WEEK"S WINNER- Dennis Pagan:
Congratulations to Mark Martin and the whole #6 Team. I think the last 3
laps of the Coca-Cola 600 should put to rest any doubts of Mark's focus.
And whats with all the talk of Matt "letting" him win. Did these people
not see Matt sideways out of two trying to catch him?
The Monster Mile at Dover could very well be a key track in the
Championship run. Second and Third in points, Matt Kenseth and Mark
Martin both run well there and the way Roush Racing has been this year
no doubt makes those two favorites. But, just as Martin was hungry and
won the 600, Jeff Gordon will finally end his own drought (as well as
all the talk of it, finally).
Look for Tony Stewart to make Jeff earn it while Sterling Marlin has a
'rare' bad day. Also, I think Dover will be one stop where the 'younger'
class will not have the kind of showing that has, so far, been the norm.
I don't think the track will take to their flat-out no fear style. A
quiet and unremarkable showing. The surprises will be Petty, again (Good
to see him having a better season). and Mike Skinner. (What good are
predictions if you don't go out on a limb?)
Thanks for allowing me to participate.
Dennis
