Martinsville
Here it goes, in no particular order...
Heather:
Well, my pick for Texas sucked last week. I predicted Dale Jr. would win, but, thanks to BAM racing, his day ended early. It seems like every driver I pick to win always ends up in a wreck! Hopefully that won't be the case this week.
I think a Chevy will finally get its first win of the season in Martinsville. And I think Kevin Harvick will be driving it. He ran well there last fall and had a chance to win - that is, until Bobby Hamilton wrecked him, and then had the nerve to make the remark about Kevin and a "scab" (you know what I mean). Hamilton's an idiot. Go Kevin!
Lisa:
The spring Martinsville race was the first I ever attended, and my son, Michael's, first T-ball game was this weekend so I am picking
[picture please]
Don:
There are so many variables at Martinsville to picking a favorite to win.
Forty three cars on this paper clip trap is an invitation to disaster and
the really good cars can get taken out through no fault of their own.
Having said that and all factors being equal here are my top five picks.
1. Rusty Wallace (this hurts me)
2. Jeff Gordon
3. Tony Stewart
4. Bobby Labonte
5. Kevin Harvick
I look for the likes of Sterling Marling, Dale Jarrett, Dale, Jr. and Ricky
Rudd to have problems. One possible surprise could be Mike Skinner.
Don
Rob:
Wow, Martinsville. A few rivalries have begun and some tempers are already a bit short. This is a weird week, we go to Martinsville for the shortest track on the circuit and then to Talladega for teh biggest track. Much confusion. Luck of the draw will have an effect on the outcome of this one. My pick:
Tony Stewart
Tony is due and I think he will put that Home Depot Pontiac in victory lane and pick himself up another Grandfather clock trophy.
Bethann:
I love short track racing! This week we are at Martinsville! You
will here about Brakes, Brakes, and Brakes, which are a must at Martinsville.
You are going to see lots of bumper tag, hear lots about shocks
and springs, and see drivers praying for a good handling car, because
if it doesn't turn easily-----its gonna be a long day .
AND we all
know that short tracks are known for producing short tempers, so
be on the lookout for some heated discussions, and some possible
paybacks. If you have a beef with a driver, this is probably one
of the best places to take care of it. NOT that I support that or
anything : )!! I must say that I loved Jack Sprague's payback for
Jimmy Spencer at Texas, and best of all he didn't wreck Jimmy or
tear up his car letting his feelings known.
Ok now for my pick:
When I think of Martinsville, I think of Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon,
and Rusty Wallace. So my pick for Martinsville is....enemeneminemo.
.Jeff Gordon. You all know I ain't a Gordon fan, but with the
steady improvement he has been showing over the past few races, and
the momentum coming off a 2nd place at Texas, I think he may just
suprise us all and win on Sunday. (I KEEP PICKING HIM, HE HAS TO
WIN SOONER OR LATER..RIGHT?)
(Others to watch are: Tony Stewart, Rusty, Dale Jr, and (Kevin Harvick).
.just have a feeling) Well, THATS ALL FOLKS!!!!! Have a great weekend
and enjoy the races.
SideWays:
Well lets see..I like "Buckshot", Shawna, Robby G and probably that big eared fellar..ah..oh yeah Kurt Busch. Now we could see fellars like that Jerry "No" Dew and Jimmy "Elephant Boy" Spencer run it a little deep.
Wait a minute the boys in the shop are yelling at me..what..oh..look I'm sorry this being my first time and all I thought the question was who would "Spin" at Martinsville!
Can I change my answer? OK then WE like:
Rusty Wallace, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Lil E, and DJ. In that order please and thank you!
Arnie:
Missing this week.
Arnie
Danny Z:
Brakes and brains, it'll take a lot of both and I think Rusty does
it better than the rest.
The talented left foot of Ricky Rudd, and
the go for it attitude of Junior makes my trifecta
2, 28, 8
Charlotte:
Jeff Gordon
LAST WEEK"S WINNER- Larry R. Martin!!:
Jeff Gordon needs more than a 1.25 inch nose job to end the drought (at least at Martinsville, 2 U-turns connected by 2,800 foot drag strips).
Watch for the Fords, Martin (#6) or Kenseth (#17) could end up in the winners circle. Marlin (#40) has won at Martinsville before, but not in a Dodge. A real dark horse??? Kyle Petty has been running stronger race by race, and just needs a good break to win again. But unfortunetly for the above mentioned drivers......... Rusty Wallace (#2) will win the Virginia 500 and tighten up the Winston Cup points race.
Larry R. Martin
