Pocono (Again)

Here it goes, in no particular order...

Don:

Here are my picks for Pocono. There is absolutely no logic or insider trading involved here. Since Pocono's layout is so unique and demanding, throw out experience and look for youthful exuberance to reign supreme. Experience, in the form of D. J. won at the last outing but won't mean squat in the July heat. Here we go:

1. Jimmie Johnson (Very talented with good equipment and not enough fear of the unknown)

2. Dave Blaney (Steadily improving and no fear of the infamous tunnel turn. He'll find the cushion)

3. Tony Stewart (Making up ground from a disastrous run at New Hampshire and happy to be interviewed)

4. Jeff Gordon (A predictable winner but bad luck will keep his winless streak alive)

5. Michael Waltrip (Decides that Hello Walls is no longer his favorite song)

SideWays:

Well me and the boys were chastised by our beloved leader for missing the dead line last week. While we were summarily lashed for our tardiness, we were left to our previous weeks pick of Matt Kenseth.

Imagine how our distress turned to glee as the afternoon unfolded. While the race wound down we almost hurt ourselves laughing at what might turn out to be the "Blindest of hogs finding an acorn"! Oh fickle finger of fate!

Well lets not dwell on our past deficiency's, besides that what we have Mothers-in-laws for! Let's move on to this weeks "Winner".

Pocono. Indian for " many horses gather for wampum ". That what we think it's gonna' take...Horse Power! The "Blue Oval Boys"have had their share of that! That's why we're going with............Kevin Harvick!

The "Bow Tie Boys" are back!

Heather:

Finally back at good ol' Pocono again. Hey, wait a minute, weren't we just there? I don't understand why they schedule the two Pennsylvania races so close together, it doesn't make sense.

Oh well. Anyway, I'm starting to get obsessed with picking Jeff Gordon - kidding! But I've been doing it so long, if I don't continue to, then he will win the week I don't pick him! I can't believe the luck he's had (or should I say, NOT had) this year.

I still believe he'll surely win sooner than later. If not, he better get a top 5 finish this weekend because I need the points. LOL!

Danny Z:

Experience is the key when racing at a track with three distinct corners and the longest straightaway in Nascar, so I'm going with guys who know how to run here.

My Pocono trifecta is

1 Ricky Rudd, all rumors aside, he knows the track better than anyone except

2 Rusty Wallace, and

3 Mark Martin, just because he's on a roll and will be prepared for this race better than the rest.

Arnie:

Matt Kenseth will win this week. He is driving as well as anyone and should be the one to beat this week.

Fellow Roush teammate Mark Martin will follow him to the line with Dale Jarrett close behind.

It will be another exciting race in the Pocono Mountains.

Alison:

Mark Martin should pull off the win this week.

Mikey will rebound from last week and get 2nd.

Sterling Marlin will continue his Championship form and place 3rd.

Rob:

Again, to the slackers below: START SENDING YOUR PICKS IN ON TIME!!!

Next, here is what I predict:

Dale Jarrett and Ricky Rudd are both hot at Pocono and I don't see anything different this week.

Jarrett will win

Rudd 2nd

And I think Newman will come home 3rd.

I expect this to be a little more exciting than it was a couple weeks ago, because I feel quite a few guys are getting over anxious and will get over aggressive.

LAST WEEK"S WINNER- Jeff Anderson:

Much as I hate to do this I'm going to have to give the nod to Jeff Gordon this week. The streak will finally end.

Second place, Jimmie Johnson. I really like Jimmie's style and consistency.
