The Rock!!
Here it goes, in no particular order:
Lisa:
Last week, I picked the winners by birth months, and it didn't work. Was I
surprised? No. This week I'm going to pick by an omen inspired by dropping
a library book. When I dropped the book, I saw something fly out, and
thinking it was my bookmark, I leaned over to pick it up. Well, it was a
one dollar bill. Actually, it was a one with several other bills under it.
The total was $211.
So, I am picking Kenny Wallace in the #1 car for first
(for the first bill I saw), and Elliott Sadler in the #21 car as my backup.
Sounds good to me, Kenny finished second at Rockingham last fall, and
Elliott finished second last week. Guess which numbers I'm playing in the
lottery this week? Oh, and yes I did return the money to the library to try
to find the owner.
Don:
My predictions for this weeks race a Wreckingham is Robby Gordon.
He's hungry and the mile tracks seem to favor his driving style.
If Robby doesn't win my fall back pick is one of the DEI cars and
the next most likely will be Bobby Labonte/Tony Stewart.
Picking one specific driver this early in the season is extremely
difficult since Daytona has no bearing on how the cars will perform
at Rockingham and there are too many drivers in new, to them, rides.
I give the edge to the Chevies and Pontiacs so watch one of the
Dodges prove me wrong.
Charlotte:
Considering the way my predictions turned out the last time around,
I'm afraid I'm going to jinx more drivers. So I think Robby Gordon
and Jimmy Spencer will take the cake....
Bethann:
My pick is (AND THIS GOES AGAINST EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING) Jeff Gordon.
He has had a wonderful track record at THE ROCK. With numerous wins,
poles, Top 5's and Top 10's.
Another one to watch is Tony Stewart. With the awful luck that he had
last week at Daytona, he is going
to be on the charge.
Other possible winners could be: Kenny Wallace, Dale Jr., and Bobby
Labonte. Those are my picks and I'm
sticking to them.
Danny Z:
The Rock brings real prep work back to racing. DEI isn't going to come in blind,
but it will be the #1
up front more often than not. Of course the only lap that matters is the
final one and Jeff Gordon will find yet another way to deny Kenny Wallace the
checkers. That big 2 in the mirror will follow him past brother Kenny. My
Trifecta; Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace, Kenny Wallace.
Happy Racin' Danny Z
Rob:
Ok, since the ITPB staff is looking pretty shoddy here, I will delve deep into my knowledge this week and put us on the score board!
Kenny Wallace and that Pennzoil #1 car have both had much success at The Rock and have to be the favorites going in. Kenny won the Busch race from an outside pole start and finished 2nd in the Cup race from the pole. With that said, I will pick Kenny for 3rd. The favorite never wins. Look at last week.
I am going to go with something called momentum. Ward Burton has won at The Rock and always runs strong there. He is coming off of a MAJOR boost in his confidence and I look for him to repeat.
That leaves the issue of 2nd place. Some say Nemechek, some Mike Wallace. I say Jeff Gordon. Not atop my list of favorite drivers, but he will be around the front for the finish of this one.
So, its Ward, Kenny, and Jeffy. Take that ED!!!!
LAST WEEK"S WINNER- ED BURGHOLZER!!:
(Let's see if it was a fluke)
Wow, thanks for the opportunity to really
look good. That was some race last week. NASCAR has to
find a solution to these big wrecks. Maybe no
restrictor plates, I haven't seen a workable
alternative yet.
Way to go Ward. A deserving driver and team
owner.
Now for this week. From a fantasy perspective,
you obviously take Jr., Stwewart, or Jeff. I will for
pts.
Now for the real contenders, I think Kenny
Wallace is one of the choices here. Along with the
fact that, he has the car that won here last year, He
seem's to have patience, and an ability to know when
to make his moves. My other logical choice would be
Mike Wallace, He ran well here in the Ultra
Motorsports # 7 car last year, and he has the car
Nemechek won here with. He shows the same type of
driving style as Kenny.
Elliott Sadler,maybe.
HMMM, 1-2-3 for the Wallace Brothers, possible but
not likely. My final answer is: Kenny Wallace. Thanks
for checking this out, and remember to always be nice,
it could come back some day.
Ed Burgholzer
Summary:
This week has a lot of the ITPB staff picking Kenny Wallace to either win, place, or show. The Gordon's, Robby and Jeff, show up and Elliott Sadler gets bounced around a few times. Could this be a break out season for Elliott? Or even Ward? Time will tell.
Thanks to Ed Burgholzer for joining us this week as the "past champion" of weekly predictions. If he makes us look bad again, I may have to lose his e-mail address!!
