The Winston!!!!

Here it goes, in no particular order...

Bethann:

I absolutely love The Winston! No need to worry about points, just lay it all out on the line and GO For IT! Now we get to see some REAL racing!

As for my pick to win The Winston, I have been going back and forth between two drivers-- Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart. I have all week been saying that I was going to pick Stewart, but for some reason when it came to making a final decison on my pick I had second thoughts ....So my solution: I wrote both names on a piece of paper and had my dad pick one out of a hat.

The result: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Thanks DAD! So I guess If Stewart wins, I can blame it all on my dad right?

Junior is a previous Winston winner, winning the event in 2000. Keep in mind that Humpy Wheeler picked Jeff Gordon to win, so it will be interesting to see if he proves us wrong, he has an incredible track record of predicting winners in this race.

It sure is going to be interesting to see how the race unfolds under the new rules, and lets just hope we see some safe competitive racing. ENJOY EVERYONE!!!!

Danny Z:

(Editor's Note:)

Danny didn't get in on time, probably still recovering from his trip.... We'll give him last week's pick of Rusty Wallace once again.

Heather:

Even though it's a non-points race, everyone wants to win the Winston and take home all that cash. I think Bobby Labonte will be the guy who wins it all. No particular reason; but when I sat down to think about my pick for the Winston, the #18 popped into my head like a bright, flashing casino sign in Las Vegas.

So, I'm going with Bobby Labonte. Tony Stewart will again be a top contender, but I'm picking his teammate this week.

Rob:

Newman all the way. From the Open straight on thru. Newman has proven he can run hard and fast but not for long periods of time. This is his race.

Side note: I will be there for the race on pit road, so if he wins, maybe he'll let me go to victory lane with him!!! What do think Ryan??

SideWays:

We all here at the shop hope that RJR has the good sense to tell NASCAR to cool their jets. This track was made to host this event. We all will take a Speedway Motorsports event over any ISC venue any day! Say what you will those folks are constantly doing something to enhance the fans enjoyment and comfort, plus they ain't too anal to fix anything that's broke and leave alone anything that ain't!!

Now for the "Winston" ....DJ,JJ,"Lil" E make the first three!

Arnie:

Tony Stewart will win

Look for Roush teams to be strong especially Jeff Burton, 2nd

Little "E" a distant 3rd

Don:

Humpy Wheeler is picking Jeff Gordon and that is a logical choice. I am going to go against that logic and pick as follows:

1. Tony Stewart

2. Jeff Gordon

3. Jimmie Johnson

4. Michael Waltrip

5. Dale, Jr.

Since these are all GM cars watch Sterling Marlin or Ryan Newman make a fool out of me.

Don

Lisa:

Lisa is in the process of moving and didn't make the deadline, so we will give her last week's pick again.

Rusty Wallace.
Charlotte:

Still riding the Junior train

LAST WEEK"S WINNER- Myrtle Zeeff (2nd time winner!!):

It was between Tony and Jeff Gordon, but I am going with Tony because Lowe's doesn't want Home Depot souvenirs and I think this is petty.

Mr Wheeler has picked Jeff, but he has too much on his mind right now to concentrate on THE WINSTON.

As you can see I am a Tony Stewart fan and hope he wins top honors this year. His speech at last years award ceremony was GREAT. May the best man win.!!!

Won't be able to see race this week but will watch it Wednesday nite on SPEED. Will be happy when FX and Foxsport join our station. Three weeks without a race is too long.Oh yes, I will have the radio and listen to two great guys announcing it.
