It just wouldn’t be Pocono without some sort of weather event. From the blistering heat to the bitter cold, monsoon rains to fog, weather always seems to make an appearance at Pocono and it did so again yesterday as rain washed out all events Friday for the ARCA RE/MAX & Sprint Cup Series teams.
ARCA RE/MAX Series
With qualifying being rained out for the ARCA RE/MAX Series, today’s race will line-up by current owners points, meaning Justin Lofton will lead the field to the green flag for Today’s Pocono ARCA 200. Starting 2nd will be Matt Merrell followed by Frank Kimmel, Joey Logano, and Bryan Silas. Parker Kligerman who sits 2nd in driver points will start the race 6th, ahead of Tom Hessert, Patrick Sheltra, Craig Goess, and Tim George Jr.
A practice session will be held at 9:00AM this morning for the ARCA RE/MAX Series in preparation for todays’ Pocono ARCA 200. The race is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM ET, and will be broadcast (tape delayed) on Speed from 4PM - 6 PM , and again from11PM-1AM . Coverage can also be found at www.arcaracing.com.
Sprint Cup Series
Series points leader Tony Stewart will lead the field to the green for Sunday afternoon’s race as once again as it has many times this season, rain washes out Cup qualifying. Jeff Gordon will start 2nd, ahead of teamate Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, and Ryan Newman.
With no on-track activity taking place yesterday, this morning’s practices will be critical for race teams as they prepare for Sunday’s 500-mile race.
Keep checking back throughout the weekend as yours truly will be covering the races this weekend at Pocono. Please enjoy a few pictures taken yesterday (Friday) at the track.
Until next time….Drive Fast, Turn Left!
